Technical features

The M Series products are the ideal solution for telecontrol of MV transformation centers. M Series products can collect data from transformation centers, either via direct acquisition (through their digital and analog inputs), or through communication protocol with the bay bus via serial channels (RS422/RS485) using IEC60870-5-102, Procome, Modbus RTU, DNP3.0, etc.

Communication with the Control Center can be done via an IP based channel, the GPRS network. This allows the transfer of information through multiple IP based protocols, such as IEC60870-5-104, DNP3.0 TCP, ModbusTCP, IEC61850 or serial protocols tunneled through TCP. In addition to these advantages, the system features an easy deployment thanks to the connection to a public operator network, that frees the utility from expensive investments.

M0 series units are equipped with an internal dual-SIM GPRS modem which is controlled by the RTU firmware. The use of dual-SIM allows working with two different communications operators, in order to have a backup network in case the main one fails.

3G option is also available in M1 Series.

Control architectures based on M Series control units allow an optimal automation of the Medium Voltage network, at a competitive price.

Applications and Maintenance


iRTU & iGW units allow maintenance and configuration tasks to be performed, both locally and remotely over the IP network. Performance of maintenance tasks may be accomplished by using standard software tools, e.g.:

  • Communication trace display: Telnet manager (HyperTerminal or similar)
  • Data uploading or downloading: FTP manager (Windows File Explorer or similar)
  • iConf tool for configuration and management of iRTU/iGW units
